The Division of Fire and
Rescue Services is responsible
for coordination of fire protection activities of the 15
fire departments located throughout Nash County. The Fire Marshal's
Office assists the departments with training and equipment needs and responds
to major incidents. The Fire Marshal also provides fire
prevention inspections in all commercial buildings in Nash County
to ensure their compliance with North Carolina Fire Codes. The Fire Marshal
and his staff participate in fire investigations with other fire and law
enforcement agencies. The Fire Services Division also operates a fire
safety house that is used to educate children on the proper way to react
to a fire. It is carried to schools and civic functions and set up to
provide children with a real live scenario of a house fire.
